Cory Edmunds, age 48 of Adair, and formerly of Spirit Lake, IA, died at his home on Monday, May 29, 2023, near Adair. Cory was born March 18, 1975, and raised in Spirit Lake, IA, to Frank and Connie (Steinberger) Tolan. He received his education at Spirit Lake Community Schools and Denison Job Corps and WIT in Denison, IA, where he graduated with certifications in Welding, Masonry, Construction and Blue Printing.
Growing up, he loved hanging out with his brother and Grandpa Bob! In his youth, he was active in Cub & Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, fishing, and hunting. He had a love for nature, animals, NASCAR Racing, and music. Later, he enjoyed collecting vintage stereo equipment, pocketknives and little tins. Cory worked various construction jobs and lumber yards in Long Prairie, MN, Adair, IA, and Anita, IA. He also owned his own business, CE Construction Company. He was proud of his work and accomplishments.
He married the love of his life, Sarah Miers on June 15, 2010. Together they enjoyed living in the country, raising horses, fishing, camping, traveling, and going to Flea Markets. Cory was very loving and caring. And compassionate. This is what won the heart of his wife Sarah. He later built an edition to their home to help care for his mother and father-in-law. He was very artistic and poetic. Cory had a “Heart of Gold”. He treasured his family and friends!
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Sarah Edmunds and their fur baby Ruger; daughter Torri Perry and Fiancée Justin Manley; granddaughter Raelynn Rose; mother Connie (Al) Tolan; father Frank Edmunds; brother Curtis (Jane) Edmunds; step brother Dennis Tolan; sister Jenny (Curt) Drost; grandmother Bev Steinberger; brother in laws Shawn (Amy) Miers and Nate Overturf; sister in laws Shannon (Galen) Crozier; Stephanie (Shawna) Miers-Johnson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob Steinberger, Charles and Ruth Edmunds, stepbrother Arnold Tolan, mother and father-in-law Bill and Linda Overturf.
Cory will be forever loved and missed; we’ll all see you in heaven “Pee-Wee”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cory’s name and sent to the Robinson Funeral Home at PO Box 272, Spirit Lake, IA 51360.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. There will also be a celebration of life held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the East Shelter in the Littlefield Recreation Area in Audubon County, IA. Burial will be held at a later date in the Lake View Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji, IA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com; as well as the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair is handling the local arrangements in Adair for the Edmunds family.
