Jeffery Kinzie

April 1, 1959 — December 28, 2021

Jeff Kinzie, age 62, of Atlantic, formerly of Anita, IA, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his residence in Atlantic, IA.

Jeffery Lee Kinzie was born in Atlantic, IA, on April 1, 1959, yes, he was an April Fool’s baby! Whenever someone would say, “I’m hungry”, he’d say, “Hi hungry, nice to meet you!” He loved to make people laugh, and that smile of his was incredible. Jeff worked for Kinzie Service Station in Anita with his dad, Cecil for many years. He later worked at Schafer Systems Inc., and eventually began working at Cass Inc., where he met some wonderful people including his dear friend Myles. He was always working on cars and even raced stock cars for several years. He drove the No. 51 car. Jeff spent most of his life living in Anita IA and eventually moved to Atlantic with his daughter and some of his grandkids. He was definitely a family man. Nothing meant more to him than his grandkids, Bradley, Teagan, Hunter, Cadence, Jaxyn, and Tanner. Jeff was married to Dot and was a proud father of three kids: Josh, Steph, and Nathan. They are proud to call him Dad.

Jeff enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including hunting, fishing, camping, and racing. Jeff's true passion was hunting. He took great pride in passing this skill on too many loved ones. His boys, Josh and Nathan, the nephews he loved like his own, Chuck and Donnie, his grandchildren, and many more spent countless hours with Jeff waiting for that trophy buck to pass by. He loved to see their enjoyment in the hunt and to share the many stories that followed. He was an animal lover of all kinds, including his beloved Patch, who was always by his side. He loved old movies and could watch them all day. “The Man From Snowy River” and “Twister” were a couple of his favorites. He loved all types of music, from Van Halen to Randy Travis. However, no music was more important than that of his grandson Bradley’s.
Jeff loved his food, and man could he cook. From his perfect fried chicken to his goulash, that was a skill that was second to none. Something that he learned from his Mother Joyce and passed down to his children. Chocolate-covered cherries were his favorite candy, a salted nut roll was a close second. Jeff was a jack of all trades and always knew how to help. He was always there to give advice or lend an ear no matter the situation. He was the most kind, patient man you could ever meet. He had a heart of gold! He was, is, and always will be a great man. He is loved and will be missed by many.
