Jeremy Heath

On May 23, 2022, Jeremy Carl Heath, a loving father of two and an overall family man, passed away at the age of 52 in CHI Bergan Hospital in Omaha, NE. In 2011 Jeremy was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, Scleroderma. After having numerous complications over the years, Jeremy tragically passed away unexpectedly due to complications from surgery.

Jeremy was born on August 5, 1969, at the Atlantic Hospital. He attended and graduated high school from Walnut, Iowa. After graduation, Jeremy “tried” to further his education at Northwest Missouri State and majored in “Social” Sciences. After one semester, which he was very proud of, he moved back home to Walnut Iowa where he would go straight into the workforce.

Shortly after, in the year 1990, he met Jennifer Boldt while cashing his check at HyVee and forgetting to get the milk Verla sent him in for. However- he did come out with a big smile and a date. They were united in marriage on August 12, 1995, which led to two children, Tatum, and Ben. Although they were divorced due to irreconcilable differences, they maintained a lifelong unexplainable friendship. Jeremy worked for Betts & Beer construction for many years and then went on to work for Wonder Bread for 15 years after. After being diagnosed with Scleroderma, he then took early retirement and focused on his health and family. He lived in Atlantic, Iowa with his parents, Ben, and Verla Heath until recently moving in with his sister
Noele in Carroll, Iowa.

His kids were his everything and so was his family. He was the definition of genuine kindness. Jeremy was one of the least judgmental people, which was a quality he got from his mother. Jeremy always loved to have fun, he had great looks and charm like his father. He was a perfect combination of the two. Although he has left his two wonderful children behind, he will always be in their hearts and minds for the rest of their lives.

Jeremy is survived by his two children, Tatum and Ben Heath, his father Benjamin Heath, his sisters Noele Tyson (Kelsea Tyson and Taylor Sanchez), and Dawn Hepler (Hillary Zelmer, Heath Hepler) as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews.

Jeremy is proceeded in death by his mother, Verla (Schroeter) Heath, grandparents Elmer & Janice Heath, Harold & Anna Schroeter, and his uncles Kurt Weitzel, and Stephen Gronseth.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA, with a luncheon to follow in the reception hall at the funeral home. A visitation will be held just prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Southlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
