Scott Edward “Skip” Rochholz, age 66 of Adair, Iowa, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born to Leroy and Marjorie (Sachau) Rochholz on 18 April 1956 in Atlantic, Iowa. He lived in Adair Iowa throughout his childhood where he was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He began building things at a young age and was known for the treehouses he built all over town. When he was just a teenager, he remodeled the Adair Rec Center. After his mother’s re-marriage to Howard Walker, the family moved to Howard’s farm in rural Brayton, Iowa where he spent many days hunting and fishing before graduating High School in Exira in 1974.

Skip married his high school sweetheart Bonnie Jayne in 1975 and they settled in Adair and had two children, Trever and Tara, before divorcing in 1985. He then moved to the Des Moines area and began his decades long career as a Roofer with Drake Roofing in Des Moines, IA. He loved working alongside his childhood friend Rod Schmidt and was proud of the many building projects he completed throughout Central Iowa. His second daughter Mary was born in 1986. In 1989 he married his second wife Kathy Hager and settled in De Soto, Iowa; their son Alex was born in 1991. He continued to build decks, docks, sheds, and other projects, including three homes he designed and built in De Soto. He also did woodworking projects for friends and family, including several pieces of furniture, a rocking horse for his son Alex, and cradles for his grandchildren and his brother Mark’s grandchildren.

He married his third wife Leslie Kunkle in 2005 and they settled in Dexter, Iowa and enjoyed spending their summers hosting his father Le Roy. Following his retirement from Drake Roofing in 2016 he returned to Adair Iowa where he lived until his death.

Scott was proceeded in death by his wife Leslie, his father LeRoy, his stepfather, Howard, and his beloved aunt Noreen (Rochholz) Love.

Scott is survived by his mother Marjorie Walker and her husband Charles Paulson of Exira, IA; his son, Trever Jayne and his partner Matthew Beyer of Waukee, IA; his daughter, Tara and her husband Shane Hansen of Omaha, NE; his daughter Mary Whitehorn and her partner, Nick Barnum of Brainerd, MN, and his son Alexander Rochholz and his partner Miranda Broeker of Winterset, IA. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Brooklynn
and her wife Emma Jayne of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, Nathan and Skyler Jayne of Adel, IA, Liam Jayne of Waukee, Payton and Cecelia Hansen of Omaha, and Wyatt Rochholz of Winterset, as well as his brother Mark Rochholz and sister-in-law Denise Powers of Golf, IL, and his sister Lori and her husband Curt Blaskey of Des Moines, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa with burial to follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Adair. Visitation with the family present will be from 11 am till the time of services at the funeral home on Monday.
